Birth of BrokeBoyz
The birth of the movement came long ago. Growing up in the tough streets of Inglewood, CA. Poverty flooded the neighborhoods and kids grew with dreams of Quality, Comfort, and Urban apparel. As a kid, I always wanted the newest trend in apparel but couldn’t afford the newest shoes or the fine brand shirts. I was teased about wearing knock offs and repeating the same clothing daily. I was hurt at first but eventually grew pride in my circumstances and used it as motivation to one day afford better clothes. It motivated me to pursue a career in entrepreneurship. I went to College to major in Business Entrepreneurship to help build that vision for kids who grew in poverty but wanted nice clothes, like myself. I want the inner-city community to feel comfortable and at home (no matter where they find
themselves) even if they come from a blighted environment.
The objective is to make kids understand that where you live and how poor you are, does not define your existence. Not being able to afford the newest trends makes you any less than the ones who do, you are always destined to grow and learn along the way.
Embracing the Struggle.
Story Behind the Logo:
I chose the Old English font to emphasize the rugged and rough culture many people are exposed to growing up in poverty.
The middle divider is a money sign with an arrow pointing down I intended to symbolize pride and confidence in one’s culture (whatever it may be)
The palm trees express a motto
of the company “Beauty within the struggle” the palm trees represent a comfort and tropical environment typically considered relaxing and comfort. Palm trees hit close to home to me because when I was a kid there was this long lanky palm tree I'd always see outside of my home walking to school, playing in the alley's and simply roaming the Hood.
